Opening the seventh seal of Revelation heralds the seven trumpet plagues.
1 And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour. 2 And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets. 3 And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. 4 And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand. 5 And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake. 6 And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.
Obviously the seven trumpet plagues follow after the opening of the seventh seal which allows us to continue to develop our end time timeline.
The period of silence in heaven could be a literal 30 minutes or if this is a prophetic period this would equate to 15 days on earth. In prophetic understanding we apply the day for a year principle, one prophetic day equals one 360 day year (twelve 30 day months) in earthly terms. The Messiah told us that there are 12 hours in a day, hence one prophetic hour equals 30 earthly days. Half an hour must therefore equal 15 days.
The angels are given 7 trumpets and prepare to sound them from heaven. Unlike the first 5 seals which were all man made disasters, the trumpet plagues are clearly issued by divine command. They start with a series of supernatural disasters, include a demonic infestation of the earth for 5 months, and then lay the groundwork for the final pouring out of the Wrath of YHWH.
Watch and Pray
Notice here the significance of the prayers of the saints. By this point in the end time narrative millions of saints who profess the name of YHWH and hold fast to His Commandments have been murdered. Those who survive will only have made it this far through the supernatural protection YHWH places on His people. The Messiah told us to watch and pray.
34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. 35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
Notice verse 36 – we are instructed to watch and pray always that we may be accounted worth to escape all these things.
YHWH will protect us from all the terrible events which happen during the end times IF we pray always. I know this is a weakness in my own spiritual life and I believe that many brethren are weak in this discipline.
As we continue in our exploration of the first 4 trumpet plagues this week, let us also redouble our efforts to improve our prayer life so that our prayers are worthy to be counted as a sweet aroma before YHWH and will bring his divine protection on us during these terrifying events.
